Create a Mad Hatter Tea Party this Summer

10 May 13 By: Lene McGuinness

With the warmer weather on its way, spending time outdoors is a definite “do”. If you’re in charge of organizing or hosting an event this summer, why not make it a garden party.

With Allens Hire’s range of garden furniture and catering hire, you can create just about any kind of garden party. That being said, because being spoilt for choice sometimes makes deciding a lot harder, we’ve created a summertime garden party theme to make your life a little easier.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

Start off by creating a large table setting, if you don’t have a table long enough, join trestle tables end to end to make up your preferred length.

Use brightly coloured brocade linen with matching napkins, a mixture of coloured and crystal stemware and cutlery with a traditional design, like Kings Pattern.

Next, onto the china. The William Edwards Fresco collection is ideal and exclusive to Allens Hire, not only can you hire tea cups in varying colourways but you can hire plates too. Choose a colourway that works with your table linen. If you chose a purple brocade, match it with a Fresco white plate and Fresco lavender teacup and saucer. Or, if you want a more eclectic look, (use the range of pastel coloured – revised from ” use as many different coloured”) Fresco teacups and saucers and mix them up.

Add ample shade with large cream pagodas and create a unique seating effect with a classic chair design in different colourways like the Camelot chair in silver, white and green.

Place a three-tiered cake stand (or two) in the centre of the table. Fill it with your catered treats and decorate around it with large bunches of flowers like lilies, carnations, roses and gorgeous bunches of fruit. Intersperse the setting with teapots filled with either tea or create teapot cocktails or homemade lemonade.

Finish the theme off with plenty of appropriate props in a complementary colourful way.
